As I was coming down the Bowen Ranch Trail heading for the springs today I could see a large group of people were there already on the sandy area near the Arizona Pool. By the time I got closer this large group ( aprox 35 people ) was already hiking downstream on the PCT and I was told later by a person at the springs that this group came up from the San Diego area. A young woman in this group was going to jump from the edge of the Womb Hot Pool into the creek when she slipped, falling down and breaking her knee on a rock down below her at the creek level. When I arrived she was sitting on the rocks out in front of the Crab Cooker with a couple of people attending to here. She was wrapped up in a orange space blanket.
Not long after I arrived the red and white police chopper came in and lowered resue personel who got the young woman prepped for pick up. The chopper then lowered the strecher basket, she was put in first and lifted up, then the line came down and lifted up the rescue man. The chopper was right over the hot pool area and we all got blasted by the high winds of its downdraft. Some people's stuff blew in the creek from all the wind. Leaves were blowing all over the place.
Lots of visitors today with a high percentage of clothing optional folks. Jobe and Celtfire also were down for the day and I had fun visiting everybody. The pools were very clean when I arrived but after the chopper blasted the area lots of leaves went into the hot pools and creek. I took some photos of the rescue and I will put some up at my Wizard's pictures link below in a while. I will repost here when they are ready for viewing. Very enjoyable day at DCHS today :-)
