The show begins about sundown Thursday in the western sky with a cluster of planets over a crescent moon.
And it warms up to what astronomers say could be a very good year for the Perseid meteor showers — on dark mountaintops as many as 60 “shooting stars” per hour between midnight and 4 a.m. early Friday morning.
