CO2 levels reach record highs in NZ

Carbon dioxide levels over New Zealand have reached an all time high. The greenhouse gas is considered to be the key driver of global warming.
Figures from the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research have found the levels have risen sharply worldwide, in the past 10 years.
Principal scientist, Dr Dave Lowe, says over the last few years there have been record growth rates of carbon dioxide. He says last year saw a particularly big increase of around two-parts per million.
Dr Lowe says the increase is due to worldwide rises in industrial releases and changes in land use such as deforestation in South America.
