Hello Mojavegreen :-) I have not heard about this engine. Right now, around 90% of world transportation is run on liquid hydrocarbon fuels of various sorts. The problems I think we will find, in any proposed usage of a vehicle like this will involve the limits of biofuel production, and the fact that any large scale production of the vehicle itself, will require a huge, hydrocarbon dependant manufacturing base to provide for its production. I have already listed here several articles that discuss the serious drawbacks that will be faced by any attempt to produce various biofuels on a massive scale. Not to mention the necesary huge infrastructure changes that will be required, to accomodate the special characteristics of using a new fuel. Right now the world economies are running full speed on hydrocarbon energy, with a system design for it alone. It has taken many decades to get to the level of activity we are at. Currently, I don't see any alternative liquid fuels realistically that could be used as a replacement for diminishing liquid hydrocarbons, and whose necesary infrastructure could be built on what very important remaining hydrocarbon energy we will have left. With that said, we desperately need significant, viable, solutions to this looming energy crisis. The problem I see, especially involving the US general public, is that in large measure, they will actively pursue the status quo in thier lifestyles, and with this administration, that is not addressing this crisis responsibly, and is not forthcoming to the public on just how serious a predicament we face, there is the very real prospect that we will run this country straight into various dire consequences, with no opportunity left to power this country down, reduce our dependancy on hydrocarbons, in a reasonable, and less painful fashion. So while this vehicle is surely an amazing technological creation, I remain skeptical of its implemntation on any large scale as a replacement for what hydrocarbon energy depletion will precipitate in terms of our growing inabilities in transportion, as compared to what we have grown to be accustomed too. I am certainly however open to hear about any news on potential solutions to this huge energy problem facing us.
