Thank you Paul for noticing that article. This news article seems to provide a more well rounded view of Tim Salt's administration.

The Bureau of Land Management have been involved in numerous projects that may adversely affect the environment in San Bernardino County.

The most recent project is the underground aquifer that is on public land in the northern area of the county. This underground aquifer has been leased to Cadiz, Inc. Cadiz, Inc. plans to drain water from the aquifer and sell the water to various water agencies throughout the state.

The environmentalists state that this would harm the environment and affect other nearby water sources for wildlife. The BLM state they will monitor the effect on water resources and wildlife.

In the past, the Bureau of Land Management was involved in rail-cycle which was to be a huge garbage dump in the northern desert on public land. This project was halted due to objections by Cadiz, Inc. (the aquifer was located nearby) and resulted in a criminal prosecution. Waste Management paid a huge settlement to the County to settle the criminal prosecution. There were allegations of bribes paid and organized crime connections.

The Bureau of Land Management was also involved in Ward Valley which was to be a nuclear waste repository in the northern desert. This project was also stopped. There were huge protests held.

San Bernardino County is the largest county in the Nation and the Bureau of Land Management manage a substantial area of land in the county.
