A team lead by scientists from the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado concluded that ice in both the Artic and Antarctic regions is now melting faster than previously believed - causing the Earth to shake as it does. Ice sheet disintegration starts slowly, but once it gets going it will be "out of our control and there will be no way to stop it".
