What is significant is the little property owners stood up to the OHV lobbiests from the Blue Ribbon Coalition, the American Motorcycle Association and private lawyers sent in by AMA supercross stars like Jeremy Mc Rath, and when the dust settled, The Riverside County Board of Supervisors listened to their constituants. They enacted some tough legislation that wil help preserve the quiet and peaceful nature of rural neighborhoods.
The proposed San Bernardino County Ordinance is going to be discussed by the SB County Board of Supervisors on 4/11/06. The revised draft under review is the result of a compromise between off-road intrests and private property owners (including members of FOJF) reached at a stakeholders meeting with county officials. The off-roaders were represented by lawyers and lobbiests from CORVA, AMA D37 and ORBA. Us locals from Juniper Flats represented ourselves along with some other rural residents from across the county. It will be interesting to see if the off-roaders try to oppose what they aggreed to at the stakeholder's meeting. They are already mustering thier forces on the D37 website to show up and fight for "thier right" to tear up private and public lands.
