The BLM and USFS does work with volunteer groups like 4x4 clubs and such in an adopt a trail program. Perhaps some concerned hot springers will take this one on. More open route markers have appeared along the free route to the trailhead recently (placed by desert elves) to help people avoid getting lost. This route is currently passable to the freedom trailhead with a regular vehicle,although a little rough in places.
The real question remains, how does the BLM plan to keep the illegal off-roaders OUT of the ACEC at Cottonwood springs.
