Casey, sounds like a great project. I'm sure some of the Deep Creek Volunteer members would love to help you out. A couple other ideas for you. Since you live near Irvine, you are probably familiar with the clothing optional beach at San Onofre Beach State Park. This is regularly frequented by nudists, especially on "warmer" weekends. The nudists there are very friendly and would love to help you out. I would recommend that you just show up there on a nice weekend. If you want to be more "formal", you could also contact the Friends of San Onofre (Google them for contact info) Also, you could also contact the Naturist Society.
