SATURDAY...

.A DEEP FETCH OF PACIFIC MOISTURE MOVING OVER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
WILL SHIFT SOUTH AND REACH THE SOUTHERN SIERRA OVERNIGHT AND
PRODUCE A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HEAVY SNOW...MAINLY ABOVE 8000 FEET.
THE HEAVIEST PERIOD OF SNOW WILL LIKELY OCCUR BETWEEN 4 AM AND 4
PM SATURDAY. STRONG WEST WINDS WILL ALSO CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING
AND DRIFTING SNOW PRODUCING WHITE OUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES.

MONITOR NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR LOCAL MEDIA OUTLET FOR LATER
UPDATES ON THIS SITUATION.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PST
SATURDAY ABOVE 8000 FEET...

SNOWFALL WILL INCREASE ABOVE 8000 FEET OVER THE EAST SLOPE OF THE
SOUTHERN SIERRA TONIGHT WITH THE SNOW LEVEL LOWERING ON SATURDAY
TO NEAR 7000 FEET. HOWEVER...HEAVY SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL MAINLY
BE CONFINED TO ELEVATIONS ABOVE 8000 FEET WITH SNOW TOTALS OF TWO
TO THREE FEET POSSIBLE BY SATURDAY EVENING. ALSO...HIGH WINDS WITH
GUSTS OVER 70 MPH ARE LIKELY ALONG THE EAST SLOPES. THIS WILL
CREATE WHITE OUT CONDITIONS IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS THAT HAZARDOUS WINTER WEATHER IS
EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OR IS OCCURRING. GUSTY WINDS WILL CAUSE
BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WHICH WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT.
