As I was hiking back up the Bowen Ranch trail from DCHS yesterday I saw down in down on the creek a few hundred feet below me, a huge piece of graffiti on a slabe of granite next to Deep Creek. This is at a spot about a quarter mile or less upstream from DCHS. Just an estimate of its size would be 15 feet across, and 5 feet high, completely filled in with paint. Its like something you would see in LA or New York. This graffiti is white, with what looked to be blue bordering to define the letters. I couldn't make out what the letters were. The graffiti is at a spot on the creek of beautiful stream polished granite, and wonderful deep pools. I have spent countless wonderful hours at that spot in the past. You all know what words we could use to describe our disdain for such an idiotic act of despoiling such a pristine place. I've got plenty of harsh terms running through my mind right now which I could use to desribe my feelings towards the people who did this graffiti. I will try and get in contact with the Sky Forest ranger station to inform them of this graffiti. I personaly have removed some painted green arrows painted on rocks down at DCHS, with a wire brush and a liquid remover, and it was essentially impossible for the most part. We turned a few smaller rocks over, thats all we could do. Hopefully the Forest Service has some more effective means to remove this graffiti. If this huge piece of graffiti is left, you know more will follow. Also up on the Bowen Ranch trail just above the spot where this huge piece of graffiti is on the creek bed. is more graffiti done on a big boulder facing the trail. I took a picture of both these spots of graffiti, and will see in a little while how well the photos came out. If the pics are clear enough, I'll put them at my Wizard's pictures site below for you to view. Its sad to see such acts of degredation, at such wonderful scenic spots on Deep Creek. I'm worried now that DCHS will be next. How can you really stop such fools.
