Ordinance to restrict off-roading

Under a proposed off-road ordinance, motocross riding would be acceptable for people who live on more than two acres, but seven-time Supercross winner Jeremy McGrath would not be able to train on his 980-acre ranch.

For more than a year, the Riverside County Planning Commission has struggled to appease the off-roaders who say they have a right to ride in rural areas and the residents who say the regular hum of motors is destroying their quality of life..................................

The rules would allow people to ride on their own property between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. as long as they live on the premises and it is at least two acres. All bikes must also have quiet exhaust and spark arrests, which guard against wildfires.......................
