In years past there was another hothead BLM ranger in the area named Jim Clayton. He once gave me a hard time, falsly accusing me of cutting firewood for sale off BLM land. After he threatened to confiscate my truck, saw, wood and arrest me in the parking lot of the old safeway in Apple Valley, I produced a USFS permit and he stomped off mad.
One day, this Ranger was not around anymore. Rumor was he "transfered" to another area. Years later I met the man who fired him for misconduct on the job. Government agencies sometimes try to keep a very low profile when dealing with problem employees who have made a carreer in law enforcement.
