The dramatic increase in worldwide population, is the highest priority item, when it comes to the long list of things to be addressed, remedied, when it comes to the task, of trying to develop a sustainable system for humanity. Unfortunately, this is not being accomplished, and from my perspective, there are no signs to be seen, of any reasonably attainable solution, that will come along in the forseable future, which will get a handle on our explosive growth. So the upper limits of population will be reached, not through a process of careful, sensible planning, but through a culling of the masses by degraded environments, lack of resources, adverse climactic events, and disease. Oil and water, in as much as their scarcity will present huge problems for those living in the future, are still but one part, of a long list of other pressing ills, that will affect all, and our quality of life, and more so, that of the coming generations. There are also so many things abrew, within the social fabric of the people and societies of this world, that will increasingly pit one segment, against another, producing behaviors, that will come more from the drive to survive ( back to the jungle rules and actions ), than, from a diligent following of " higher " moral sentiments, that we are more inclined to have, during peaceful, and abundant times.
