I read this criticism of the Chief Ranger on another forum:

"... where Law Enforcement leadership is based upon hypocrisy, cronyism, and favoritism.

There is the 'In group', people who are described as all on the 'Dark side' who make their own rules. They hire, fire, and transfer based upon who they like. They fabricate stories, change the 'rules' to fit their needs and just basically do all the unethical things we expect from them. Ability, qualifications, knowledge - all of these things are meaningless unless people are one of the drinking buddies and/or friends.

Upset? Yeah, we are. Just look at the people who apply out, leave, and just abandon this ship. They are good people. They deserve better. The only difference between ... and the Titanic was the Titanic had a band".

This criticism isn't aimed at the person some of you will think it is. The post is directed at the National Park Service Chief Ranger at Lake Mead. Seems he was taped at a staff meeting claiming to have tortured and threatened execution of a prisoner to extract information. There have been complaints the Park Service is stonewalling an investigation. Dozens of National Park rangers have voiced their opinions at:

The purpose of this post is not to slam rangers, as there are thousands of good National Park, Forest, BLM, and State Park rangers across the country. It is to voice concern about a managerial system, in several of the resource agencies, which seems to abide rogue behavior by too many of its law enforcement managers.
