Desert dwellers hide from the sun this time of year. Time your hiking for morning and evening. During the heat, find some cool water and shade. Wizard's suggestion is right on. Although I do drink the crab cooker water, it is not free from micro organisms according to multiple tests over the years. I have never known anyone to suffer ill effects from drinking from this water source however, I have seen plenty of hikers who suffered from dehydration due to lack of water. Be smart and dont get "carried away".
