I did get a chance to talk to the Incedent Commander on site about the origins of the fire. He stated he didn't believe the cause was arson. Evidence was pointing to a spark from a vehicle, possibly a motorcycle without a spark arrestor. Fortunatly, this fire started around 7AM before the wind and the heat and locals were first on the scene. The quick multi agency response involving USFS, CDF, San Bernardino County, BLM apperatus and personell kept this blaze from becoming a major conflagration. Thanks to all of the firefighters! The down side is the road took a hit in the sandy places near the Paradice ruins and near the Rock Springs crossing. It is passable with a passanger car but beware of the sandy spots. Look for the county to send the road grader dude out after he recovers from the 4th of July hotdog and beer festivities.
