Advocating here on this forum, that " its ok " for DCHS visitors to break the USFS rules for the springs area, is in my opinion, unwise, and will only encourage others to violate the various rules. Individuals will " choose " not to abide by the rules at times, and in many cases, some are not even aware of them, as it relates to DCHS. Camping, and glass at the hotsprings ranks high in the list of problems that have affected that area. The more you have people violating the rules down there, the more it becomes an " anything goes " atmosphere. A greater ranger presence would be useful, especially in the busy summer periods, but DCHS is on the far extent of the USFS boundry, and not the easiest place for them to moniter. Also thier budget, and other priorities, most likely diminish thier ability to visit the springs on a more regular basis. The many caring visitors to DCHS can be very helpful in watching over the well being of these springs. If some folks become very destructive, or dangerous in thier activities, I think these kind of things should be reported promptly to the USFS enforcement rangers. DCHS is very special to so many, we all hope that the springs are here, and in good shape, for us to enjoy, each time we make our special journey there :-)
