no they camp at the springs, and when the citation is $35 if they get caught, and two nights at yosemite cost $36, and then while their there they pick up three huge black bags of trash, literally, during their stay that wasnt created by them and then they leave, i certainly dont care if they camp there. sure its breaking the rules, but are you telling me you dont speed? everyone breaks the rules, the question is how much and which ones.
to me, especially in regards to these springs, its about respect. if you leave it cleaner than when you found it, you respect other people, and your quiet and not hurting anyone or anything, then i dont have a problem with camping, or glass for that matter (you break it, you better f***ing pick up every piece), or any of the so called "rules" for that matter. thats part of the reason why the forest service is ok with the nudity, because its practically impossible for them to enforce any rules there so why not? the no overnight rule is the most moronic of all, no overnight my ass, there are people in there practically every night of the summer, and many people from this forum will say there is nothing like the moon and starlight on the pools reflecting, thus proving my point about choosing what rules to obey and what not.
to be honest, its the campfires that bug me, because usually they are a clear danger to the surrounding area and they create a destructive mess. the people that start the fires while they camp are usually the ones that leave the trash too, along with others that simply dont have respect for the environment (usually younger ones, but not always)
the only answer for anyone that agrees with me about respecting the place is to just be very careful with who gets invited when you go, and shown how to get here. too many people are brought down here without consideration as to whether they are the type of people that you would want to see down there later, with their own group, because you showed them the way. just like being nude is a choice, you can choose to obey or disobey any of the supposed rules to me, so long as you respect the environment. but ALL people that are at the springs should ALL respect the place, so thats the biggest problem of all, there are too many people that choose to disrespect the environment. i dont like cleaning toilet paper, baggies, plastic bottles, cans, cigarette butts, bits of glass, and discarded articles of clothing, but i do it, every time i hike out. so did these particular camping friends of mine, to the tune of three big black hefty bags.
I dont hate campers. I hate disrepecters and trashers. But, to each is own.
