A ban on motor vehicles throughout much of the local Angeles National Forest back country is again in effect.
The ban is continuing through the western portion of the Santa Clara/Mojave Rivers Ranger District because roads damaged by the winter's flooding have not been repaired yet due to funding problems.
The ban, put into effect in February, expired May 31 because of delays in getting the paperwork approved for its extension.
District Ranger Cid Morgan said funding is now in place for most of the repairs, and contractors are at work. Though the latest closure runs through December, roads will be reopened as they are repaired.
Areas included in the ban include nearly 60 back country roads in National Forest territory around Green Valley and Lake Hughes, northwest to north of Pyramid Lake.........
