Wizard's right when he says there are no easy solutions to the problem. Because many of us care so deeply for the magical waters of DCHS, its hurts us to see the place get abused or damaged. A simple analogy that anyone who has kids can relate to: My kids leave a mess on the floor -clothes, books, nick-nacks etc. As the days pass, the mess increases. Sometimes when I tell them to clean it up, then do it cooperatively. Other times , they do it reluctantly. and other times, I just can't stand the mess so I clean it up myself.

The point of my little story is Deep Creek is the same way. It's like our child. We hope the visitors cooperatively pack out their trash -most do. Some are a bit more reluctant -they need a little polite cajoling to persuade them to do the right thing. And other times, the mess at Deep Creek is so bad we just have to fix it ourselves.

Increasing populations in LA. San Bernardino, Victorville, Adelanto, Apple Valley and Hesperia will continue to send more undesirables to Deep Creek just for something to do. We need to continue to educate these people as best we can to help them see the need to respect the springs. No one said it would be easy. And arguing with a drunk is like talking to a wall. But we need to do what we can individually and collectively to keep the magic of Deep Creek alive for many years to come.
