I agree with Paul P that engaging in a physical confrontation with the various inconsiderate people that visit DCHS could present the USFS a valid reason to discontinue access to the springs. I can completely sympathize with the feeling that people feel about DCHS being a special Sanctuary, and those that show no respect for the place, and its many caring visitors, make the place less inviting, for the rest of us who have made our own special journey there. Unfortunatly there will be more pressure on the springs from those that are insensitive to nature, and to others in thier presence. The population in the high desert is increasing rapidly and more undesireable people will find thier way to DCHS. I know many regulars who tend to avoid the springs during the busy summer weekends because of these various problems, brought in by some groups. There will be no easy solutions for these problems. Some people could simply care less, about any suggestion made to them about thier negative behavior, and how it affects the experience of those around them. People form differant kinds of private resorts, etc, to achieve a more controlled environment. This solution won't work for the springs, and, it would alter for many, the free natural experience that we so much enjoy down there. I have in recent years, found myself gravitating towards more quiet, serene natural environments. Places where the negative element have no thought to go. Spots along Deep Creek, or other beautiful places, where there is time for happier thoughts, and peace, in an inspiring setting! I have been very content, following these alternative paths to my enjoyment of nature :-)
