No rain occured in the Deep Creek area with the recent thunderstorms drenching other desert areas. A survey of surface springs in Juniper Flats today revealed scant or no surface water in the usual places. Local residents in the Village area are helping out the wildlife with guzzlers. I did see a number of fat quail and their little youngins scampering around within the sancturary zone of private lands. An early morning Bobcat was suprised on Bowen Ranch Road as well. Some rain would be nice. I believe the USFS may close areas of the forest again this year but this is pure speculation on my part and not based upon any factual information. Mrs Bear reports scattered thunderstorms on her current road trip into Zion with rain encountered in Baker, Las Vegas, and Zion National Park.
