This Saturday while I was at DCHS with my two daughters, around 1PM, we heard motorcycles. I had been soaking up some sun around the Arizona Pool, and after hearing the motorcycle sounds, I went up the hill to where I could see the bikes. There where three of them sitting at the top of Mo Fo Hill. Thats the first time I have ever seen that. Then to my supprise the bikes began coming down the slippery trail of Mo Fo Hill. Any of you who have ever hiked that hillside would know that it is slippery and steep to hike. The first two riders made it down the hill, all the way, with no problems, supprisingly enough. The third rider fell on the way down and had trouble getting his bike down the rest of the way. They all pulled over under the small pine tree just to the west of, and up the cliff from, the rock crossing upstream from the Arizona Pool. I did go up to these riders to inform them that it was illegal for them to ride in any areas around the springs. They said it was their first time in the area and the way they had come down showed no signs that indicated to them that they were on any closed roads or trails. I have never seen any motorcycles before down on that west side of the creek at DCHS. This is just another sign of the increasing problem of illegal OHV travel that is inundating the desert terrain around DCHS and other lands north of Deep Creek in this area. These riders, after being told it was illegal for them to be in the area with thier bikes, still stayed for about 45 minutes to look around and chat by thier motorcycles. Were they truly unaware, or just another example of certain people within the OHV community who choose willfully to ignore the rules for OHV travel in these desert areas.
