When I last visited the hot springs several weeks ago an on-site "merchant," apparently living in a tent, was selling sodas, water, first aid, etc. He had a sign advertising himself as an "EMT," a serious deception if, in fact, he is not certified as such. I found the young man very ignorant regarding the ecology and history of the area and, I must say, I dread the intrusion of his or any other commercial venture at the hot springs, a historically non-commercial place.
What's the legal status of the guy's intrusion and has the USFS been informed? Does the USFS care?
