Aggressive OHV non compliance continues to escalate with vandalism of the fenceline along the Juniper Flats ACEC. The fence along the boundry of the ACEC has been cut repeatedly by local motorcycle riders that continue to flagrantly violate the law and ride within this protected area. Tresspass and vandalism of private property in the area is occuring as well. Local residents and other concerned recreational users are documenting and reporting this illegal activity in the Juniper Flats area.
The Deep Creek area is suffering the same abuse as well and I would like to urge all hotspringers in the area to report any violations into the USFS roadless area from the adjacent BLM lands to Ranger Barry Nelson 760-252-6070 as well. Posting here on this site would be helpful as locals are documenting all OHV non compliance throughout the Juniper Flats area that we discover to illustrate the scope of the problem. Anytime someone finds a cut fence and motorcycle tracks this needs to be documented so we can report it.
Since the OHV people have the worlds largest wide open unrestricted designated OHV area only 20 miles away in Johnston Valley, they should be encouraged to recreate there. The only way we will get true enforcement of the illegal OHV activity is if we document and report it when and where it happens. The last thing I want to see is the area chewed up by a bunch of noisy dust making erosion machines ridden by arrogant disrespectful punks. Enough is enough.
