Nothin better than back to back trips to DCHS! The Munchkins and I hit the dirt for some more fun times down there at that warm water wonderland we all love. After about 20 years of visits I keep thinkin one day I'll wake up and won't want to go up there anymore but I have a great time at that place as much as ever. Today while some of us were soaking we were wondering about some peole who go down there and leave quickly never to come back. Its good for all of us that " everybody " doesn't see it as the wonderful oasis of relaxation that DCHS is to alot of us regulars. I saw a regular named Mike today and he shared his beverages with me while we had good conversation for a long while. He told me about how he had dislocated his hip about 3 years ago. A woman who was a theraputic nurse ( I think ) happened to be there and she got his hip back in the socket and told him he better hike out as soon as possible. By the time Mike got back to his vehicle the area around his hip was very swollen, ouch! Frank, the ultimate clean up man for DCHS was down and he was using his hand held tool which he uses to pick up trash off the ground without bending over. He got this tool at Home Depot and I gotta get one since my back aint what it used to be. For today I did the next best thing. While I went around picking up some trash I held the trash bag and I had my two Munchkins pick up the trash. Thier young backs won't be hurtin for quite a while yet :-) It was another great weather day with gentle breezes, warm temperatures and lots of friendly people to talk to. I went around and checked out the rock crossing and it is dicey at best because of the higher stream flow and flood erosion from last weekend. Thats the way it goes, every year the new runoff changes things around and thats cool, change is part of life :-) Looks like the tree planter is starting the new spring season with new trees to replace the ones that got vandalized this winter. They look like they are Alder trees in the area above the Aniversary pool. Lets hope that the Nit Wits leave them alone so these trees can give us some shade some day. I talked to Frank and he said that he had found a number of the new DCV fliers laying around so at our next meeting we probably should discuss being careful about who we hand them out to so they hopefully don't end up as trash on the ground. If the weather cooperates we should have a real nice time next Saturday with the clean up, pot luck meeting with the USFS and the DCV group. I'm looking forward to it :-)
