It was a State water board official and a BLM employee who determined via GPS that the water claimed by Pope Don Whittington was actually not his at all. When Pope Don claimed he had been using that water for years, they informed him he was stealing it and subject to a fine. Shortly thereafter, Pope Don moved to Kansas and the infamous Village water wars came to an end once and for all. The rest of the Village residents (me included) continue to live happily ever after.
I believe that it is quite possible that the Deep Creek parking area is on land owned by Los Flores ranch. The saga of the Bowen Ranch has been full of twists and turns for years. With today's technology, this is easily provable. I believe the webmaster may be able to link up and post your findings if they are accurate. I think that land may be for sale as well.
