Another wet pacific storm rolled through today, soaking the earth with some oceanic moisture. The effects upon the drought stressed post Willow Fire land is evident for those who look. Juniper trees are on a growth spurt and the land is green with new growth. The hills hold promise of a spectacular wildflower season if these rains continue. The FOJF will be hosting a wildflower hike in April led by botanical experts from the California Native Plant Society. This event will be free and open to all.

Road conditions are muddy but passable and the fine job the road grader dude did on Bowen Ranch Road was great while it lasted. At least he has some job security. The local traffic was light today with mostly locals taking their Village cruisers to town and back. Things are expected to clear up this weekend and the snow level is above Big Bear according to my friends up there. Things may be heated up here on the Deep Creek Phorum, but it's been really peaceful up in Juniper Flats. Take care everyone and enjoy some time with your Valentine!
