I was at the springs this weekend, and accessed them via Bowen Ranch road. Bowen Ranch road was in incredibly good condition. It seemed freshly graded up to just a few hundred feet shy of Bowen Ranch. The only true challange I had in driving up from San Diego was the lack of accessibility via Rock Springs Road. That resulted in a trip farther East to Bear Valley and then in on Central to Ocotillo to Bowen Ranch road. The water was (is) cold as might be expected and the creek level is up, but not flowing with a dangerous current. Gratefully, an inflated ring has been left on the North beach by someone for use by all. It's rigged with lines to either side and helps to minimize the amount of your body subjected to the cold. The hot pools are awesome as usual. It's a unique experience to sink your toes into sand on the bottom of the pool thats even warmer than the hot pool itself. Where is Gold Strike H.S.?
