When I swam across the first time, at the place just outside of the crab cooker it was up to my shoulders, or over 5 feet deep, and swift. That was where I climbed out. After that I followed the 4 others by swimming across at the rocks. As you walk up stream from the beach. Where you can not walk any further. We jumped in and swam as fast as possible. It took me about 10 seconds to cross there. It took more than one minuet at the other place. I saw others trying to walk across holding back packs, and they could not with out swimming. It is too deep.
On Sunday, I bought a float at Wal-mart. And a 100 foot 3/8 nylon rope. We tied one end to the tree on the beach side. The other end we tied to the rocks. This worked out really well, as almost every one who could got across. The float I bought cost 30 $ and the rope 4 $. When I left every one wanted me to leave them. But they look better on my boat. With the 100 foot rope we had enough to tie the float in the middle and pull every one over very fast. Even with their back packs on.
