Riverside County off-roaders claim ordinances defy state law

Off-roading in rural areas of Riverside County has been a major source of contention for more than two years and although new restrictions are on the books, the battle is not over.
Six off-road advocacy groups are suing Riverside County and its Board of Supervisors, claiming the noise and off-road ordinances adopted March 28 violate state law.
Filed Monday in Riverside Superior Court, the lawsuit takes issue with four sections of the excessive-noise and off-roading ordinances.
A top concern is the excessive-noise ordinance, which caps noise at 55 decibels between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. A normal conversation measures at about 65 decibels, Planning Director Mark Balys has said...............
