Its apparent that the disagreement between some local residents has become more prominent on the issues of OHV activity in the areas surrounding the Bowen Ranch Road. Hopefully no harm will come to anyone because of this elevated tension between these opposed parties.

Re: mojavedreams

So, who is this lawless fellow? Kinda hard to know which " drifter " to avoid, based on the aforementioned information :-) Is his name to threatening to even speak of, or is it not known? Kinda like when the government request that we be alert, be vigilant, but gives us nothing specific to look out for :-) So far what we got is a lawless male motorcycle rider who carries a gun and does what he wants. Perhaps to mention his name would lead us away from the kinder, gentler forum of recent times. I would however offer up that if we are being truly warned, then the subject of the warning needs to be clearly specified, so those that may be affected can do solid things to protect themselves from this suggested threatening person.

The BLM worked with the private landowners and CORVA (California Off Road Vehicle Assn) to reduce the off road activity on private land.

So, we know that the BLM has taken action on this same problem only in a different area. We know that both Riverside and San Bernardino Sheriff have taken action before in other areas regarding this same problem.

Is Juniper Flats being treated differently?

Re: mojavedreams

We have been asking this question for a while now with no response from the BLM law enforcement so far. With the recent escalation of OHV motorcycle non complience in the area, one has to wonder. It is not due to a lack of documentation and reporting. Motorcyclists continue to vandalize fences and create new routes in the area with new tracks being reported within the USFS non motorized vehicle area of Deep Creek. One local motorcycle rider was reported to be boasting he will ride wherever he wants to and carries a gun with him "in case of any trouble". Local volunteers documenting this damage are armed with BLM flyers to educate the public with and a camera to document damage. We will not be intimidated with any threats of violence and will continue our work. If any new damage is noted by hotspringers in the area, please report it so we can check it out. Thanks to everyone for your support.
