Trip Report 12/26

We had a good day at the springs yesterday. Bowen Ranch Road had a few ice spots but was in mostly good condition. A t the Ranch there was maybe 3 or 4 inches of snow on the ground and morning temp hovering around 33 degrees. Mike suggested we park at the upper parking area due to ice on the small segment of road leading down to the trailhead. The hike down was fine- no ice and not much mud from the recent rain and snow.

The creek crossing was only about waist high. A small sandbar had built up just downstream from the beach, so we didn't even have to take our daypacks off to put over our heads. Creek temp was about 40 degrees. We got in the Crab Cooker right away to heat up from the creek. Then soaked in the Serenity Pool and Womb. Headed up to the Anniversary pool and soaked there most of the time. All the pools were in good shape and there was very little trash around.

About 15 people at the springs. A few nude but most wore swimsuits. We hiked out around 3 and drove out. The dirt road out was muddier than when we came in due to melt from the sun. Had a safe drive back home, but I was surprised that it ws bumper to bumper traffic all the way down from Hesperia through the Cajon Pass. Finally sped yp at the 15/215 split. Overall, a good day at the springs!
