Fire Emergency Closure of Figueroa Mountain Road

GOLETA, CA - Los Padres National Forest officials today announced that Figueroa Mountain Road will be closed under an emergency order from Friday morning, November 19, through Sunday, November 21. The closure is necessary to allow fire crews to continue with mop up work and to prevent the possibility of falling debris injuring members of the recreating public.
The closure will be enforced between the Figueroa Mountain Fire Station and Ranger Peak.
“The safety of our firefighters and the general public are extremely important to us,” said Santa Lucia District Ranger Kathleen Phelps. “This closure will lessen the risk of injury. We will re-evaluate conditions on Figueroa Mountain on Monday to determine whether there is a need to keep that stretch of road closed until our work in that area is complete.”
