If you look from any of the parking areas on the North side of DCHS across south to the thick forest areas you can see lots and lots of dead brown trees. I've never seen it look like that before. Also there are lots of dead bushes and trees on the slopes around DCHS. The manzanita on the western cliffs upstream from the springs has taken a real beating from the drought. Studies done on tree rings in the Sierras show 100 year plus droughts in the last 4000 years. Droughts that have killed large areas of the forest. The recent drought conditions of 4 or 5 years really shows how quickly things can get bad.
