We went all over. However, when you are returning from the springs via Bowen and have an extra hour or two to kill, have a vehicle that remotely resembles a truck or SUV, I would highly recommend taking 173, making a left on 138 and taking the Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area exit. Then simply follow 2N49 all the way until it hits 215 taking you back to civilization. The trail is actually only for street-legal vehicles and you will not regret it.

The only bummer is that due to recent weather, a few trees have snapped, so until they clear that, might as well bring a chainsaw with a few explosives to clear the path. And yes, in dry conditions, I could probably make it in a sedan or coupe, but wouldn't have as much fun concentrating on the obstacles.
