The Owner of the Bowen ranch puts a sign up that says "area closed" When He feels it is too dangerous to temp(sp.) to cross to the springs. He is tired of helping stranded hikers.
The way around the ranch is to make a right hand turn just before the Bowen ranch. It is known as the freedom trail.
About 200 yards before the ranch is a gate on the right. The next three lefts take them. After the third left go 1/2 mile and park. That is before the steep hill. The trail head is on the south side near some large boulders. It is all down hill 1.2 miles to the springs and a 900 ft. change in elavation.
