I respectfully disagree with Jobe's assessment. I've been on more committees than I'd like to admit for all kinds of purposes. Some committees are extremely effective, some not so much. Depends on how they are structured, who is on them and whether there is a clearly defined purpose, decision, and end product. Effective committees can and do implement change for the better.

Involved and concerned hot springers should be chomping at the bit to get on a public lands recreation committee. Many hot springs on public lands are in a crisis situation. Rocky Canyon HS in Idaho was destroyed recently by the Forest Service, Remington HS on the Kern River is potentially threatened with destruction. Oh My God and Krigbaum are gone as are many others.

You can make a difference by participating in this Committee. I would if my plate was not already 200% full!
