Amy, I hope my earlier post does not keep you away from Deep Creek! Even though I reported about gunfire, I should have made a better effort to keep things in context. There wasn't any shooting near the springs themselves, but we could here it because sound can travel so far in such a quiet place. Sometimes when I hike in from the Bradford Ridge Path (near Lake Arrowhead) I will come across quail hunters, so it's not unusual to hear the occasional report of a shotgun.
I can't think of a better place to spend one's birthday.
